Learning Objectives

Want to learn proper and safe ways to shoot an air rifle, or bow and arrow? check out the shooting sports project! The project teaches gun safety, hunting practices plus an opportunity to test your skills. If you have an interest in guns and/or hunting this project is a great way to learn. Check with the local extension office for the availability of a certified program in the country before enrolling into the shooting sports project as a local certified shooting sports coordinators and instructors are a must for all disciplines.

Things to learn/do in the project:

  • Care and safety of shooting sports equipment
  • Demonstrate safe use of air rifle, shotgun, bow, etc. through practice, talks, demonstrations and exhibits
  • Exhibit shooting sports skills at local, district and state events

4-H member must be 8 years old before January 1 to participate in the Kansas 4-H Shooting Sports as directed by National Shooting Sports Policies. Kansas 4-H Cloverbud (5-7 years old) members are not eligible and should not participate in the 4-H Shooting Sports program. The 4-H Shooting Sports program In Kansas is one of our most popular and educational project areas. Your cooperation is vital to the success and safety of this program.

SHOOTING SPORTS FEES 4-H members who enroll in the shooting sports project will need to pay a $10 operating fee. It is one fee per person regardless of how many phases of shooting sports enrolled in. The money needs to go to the local 4-H Council. Then on November 1 - the deadline for enrollment - each 4-H Council will submit payment to the Post Rock Sharp Shooters. 4-H SHOOTING SPORTS FALL AGENDA 4-H ARCHERY MEETINGS Tommie Berger, Archery Instructor will be hosting several events this fall.
