2022 KSU Women in Agriculture Series programming, “Risk Management Skill Development”.

Dates will include January 12, 19, 26, February 2 with an optional session #5 on February 23.  All sessions will begin with dinner at 5:30 p.m. and conclude at approximately 8:30 a.m. Two locations will be held in the Post Rock Extension District with Beloit, First Bank and Smith Center in the basement of the courthouse. To register go to our Post Rock District website at https://www.postrock.k-state.edu/

This workshop series will teach principles of determining cost of production, developing a marketing plan, purchasing crop insurance, and participating in farm programs (ARC/PLC). Participants will work with a case farm to apply these topics to a real-world farming operation. An optional 5th session will cover similar risk management principles for beef cow/calf operations.

The program will be a combination of broadcasted keynote speakers, local speakers, and facilitators to assist in completing the hands-on activities. The goal is for participants to acquire risk management skills they can apply directly to their farming or ranching operations.

The Women in Agriculture group is a networking program for sharing and learning about topics in agriculture. The Post Rock Extension District continues to develop programming for Women in Agriculture with either individual meetings in various locations around the district or series programming.

Recently, a group was formed to continue the networking process derived from the winter "2020 Financial Series" that was held in January and February. If you are interested in joining this group, contact Sandra at swick@ksu.edu or contact any of our Post Rock District Offices in Beloit, Lincoln, Mankato, Osborne or Smith Center.
